Despite entering their maiden European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding win that virtually secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.
A further three points in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Opportunity
This occasion provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, scoring for the second consecutive succession.
A Shelbourne team that had finished their league season proved outmatched against a largely rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.
A solitary worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
